Upper Kimo Drive Repair Work to Begin
By Maui Now Staff
Roadway repairs to Upper Kimo Drive will start sometime between Oct. 13 and 17, according to an announcement issued today by the Maui Department of Public Works.
Maui Paving will resurface the road following a Department of Water Supply waterline replacement project conducted earlier this year, that county officials say “took a bit longer than was expected because of weather delays.”
Because of the delay, the contractor had to begin work on another previously scheduled project.
“In the meantime,” county officials said, “residents who used Upper Kimo Drive on a regular basis were clearly upset about the condition of the road.”
County of Maui Communications Director, Rod Antone said, “We apologize for the delay, but we certainly understand that the contractor has a schedule to keep and they have been working with us to get Upper Kimo repaired. Â Thankfully the county was able to coordinate with Maui Paving without losing the funding for the project and repair work can begin this month barring any unforeseen circumstances.”
