Members of the Maui Preparatory Academy volleyball team won their first match in school history on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, in an afternoon match against Lānaʻi High School at the Lahaina Civic Center.
The teams played a double header with Lānaʻi winning the first match, and the Maui Prep Pueo winning the second match 3 games to 1.
The victory was twice as nice for seniors Sarah Colbaugh, Molie Glass, and team captain Gina Marzo who celebrated their last home game and senior day with lei and balloons.
Their next game will be an away game against Hāna at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014. It will be their final game before a tournament and division playoffs later this month.
Volleyball is one of two fall sports programs offered at the Nāpili campus, and was established three years ago.
The school also offers cross country in the fall; paddling and swimming in the winter; and track and field, and tennis during the spring.
Maui Prep opened its doors to its first 18 students in grades 6 to 8 in the Fall of 2005. It’s first graduating class was in 2010. Enrollment at the school now stands at around 200 students.
