The Hunt Development Group held a ground breaking ceremony for their new Nuʻu ʻĀina luxury real estate project in South Maui.
The project will offer 68 luxury residences (including one- and two-story single-family homes, and two-story villas) on 17 acres of land above the Piʻilani Highway between Kalepolepo and Kalama Beach Parks in Kīhei.
The development is also situated on land surrounded by the Maui Nui Golf Club.
Maui mayor Alan Arakawa said the project will offer new housing opportunities, jobs for area residents, and drive revenue to local businesses. He said the development will also support the ongoing growth and development of the Maui Research and Technology Park located next door.
Pre-sales are anticipated to begin in early-to-mid 2015.
As part of its community involvement initiative, the developer made donations to several South Maui non-profits including Grow Some Good, Kihei Charter School, Maui Food Bank, and the Kihei Youth Center during the groundbreaking celebration.
“We are pleased to be able to join the South Maui community with this beautiful resort property that will deepen the connection between people and place,” said Steve Colón, president of Hunt Development Group’s Hawaiʻi Region in a company press release. “We are committed to creating premier communities that complement the cultural and geographical riches of the Hawaiian Islands.”
According to company executives, Hunt Development Group has built or revitalized more than 6,600 homes for Hawaiʻi’s military families over the past 20 years and is responsible for the management of more than 2,000 acres in Hawaiʻi.
