Friday through Sunday, December 5 through 7, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is partnering with Premium California Vintners for their third annual Vintage Wine Weekend.

Organizers note that the weekend has been dubbed “the best little wine event in the Pacific,” and features wine selected by master sommelier Roberto Viernes, who will be in attendance.

He is being joined by vintners

  • Dan Kosta of Kosta Browne
  • Donald Patz of Patz & Hall
  • Gary Burk of Costa de Oro
  • Steve Clifton of Brewer Clifton
  • Paul Lato of Paul Lato Wines
  • Justin Willett of Tyler Winery
  • Christopher Carpenter of Cardinale Estate

The events get started on Friday, the 5th, with the Ocean Front Gala.

Over 40 hand-selected wines will be featured while the resort’s Master Executive Chef Roger Stettler oversees several culinary action stations. The dishes feature ingredients from local farmers – also in attendance – while internationally acclaimed Hawaiian guitarist, singer and composer Makana performs.

The event is priced at $165 per person, plus tax and gratuity and a portion of the proceeds will support Grow Some Good, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping children cultivate curiosity about natural life cycles, connect children to their food sources, and support nutrition choices through school gardens.

Have a bottle you’ve been saving for something special?

Consider busting it out on Saturday December 6, for the Private Cellar, billed as “the Resort’s most unique party of the year.”

Inspired by raucous La Paulée parties – celebrations held in Burgundy during which winemakers would bring their best bottle of wine to share in a good-natured rivalry – this exchange of treasured library wines will include selections from the private collections of winemakers, sommeliers, and the resort.

Guests are also asked to bring a cherished bottle of wine to share.

Whomever brings the bottle that is voted “best” will be awarded a three-night stay at Four Seasons Resort Maui and a $500 credit at the resort.

The event includes a menu developed by the resort’s award-winning culinary team and is priced at $195 per person, plus tax, gratuity and a bottle of wine.

The weekend will conclude with a classical violin performance by Elizabeth Pitcairn.

The American violinist owns and will perform on “the famed Red Violin, which inspired the Academy Award-winning movie,The Red Violin. Crafted in 1720 by Antonio Stradivarius, the violin vanished for more than 200 years, creating speculation on its mysterious past. Pitcairn’s grandfather purchased the instrument when it appeared at auction in 1990 and gifted it to his granddaughter, who has earned the reputation of one of America’s most talented soloists.”

In addition, Master Executive Chef Roger Stettler is preparing a four-course menu paired with limited production, ultra premium wines selected from the Cardinale Estate, a Jackson Family Wine Collection, Napa Valley.

Organizers note that the pairings will take place “under the watchful eye of winemaker Christopher Carpenter.”

The Red Violin event is priced at $295 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
