Maui Crime Stoppers Seeking Assault Suspect

Maui Police and Maui Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person responsible for assaulting a motorist on Jan. 16, 2015, at the intersection of Ho‘okele Street and Mokulele Highway in Kahului.

At roughly 3:30 p.m., the victim was stopped at a traffic light when a man approached his vehicle from behind and struck him the face with his fist.

The suspect is described as a “local-looking” Caucasion male, age 18 to 22, 5-foot-6-inches tall, 150 pounds, with short, buzz-cut, reddish-brown hair, and freckles on both cheeks. The suspect’s passenger is described as a local female, 18 to 22 years old, with dark black hair in an unkempt bun, larges eyes and a round face.

Maui Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for felony crimes; the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs in felony cases; or the capture of felony fugitives.

The Maui Police Department advises the public to consider all wanted persons as dangerous, and to avoid approaching or taking further action that could result in a dangerous situation.
