Murder Investigation Launched into Stabbing Death of Kahului Woman

Maui Police have launched a murder investigation into the apparent stabbing death of a Kahului woman at a home on Makaliʻi Street. Police say the victim was a 43-year-old woman, and have since arrested a 25-year-old Kahului male relative.
Patrol officers were called to an alleged abuse in progress case at 794 Makaliʻi Street, at around 4:35 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015.
According to police reports, a caller reported hearing a female screaming from the property.
Upon arrival, officers proceeded to a detached room located on the property and found the lifeless body of the woman on the floor of the one-bedroom shack.
Police say the woman had wounds consistent with being stabbed.
Police say officers located a lone adult male in the back portion of the main dwelling during an initial search of the area.
The suspect was detained and eventually taken into custody. Police say it was revealed that the man had “potential evidence linking him to the death of the female.”
According to police reports, the suspect and victim are known to be related.
The suspect remained in custody and has not been formally charged. Investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
