Water Resources Workshop Tonight, Public Input Sought
By Wendy Osher
The State Commission on Water Resource Management hosts a public workshop tonight, and is seeking input on water resource issues.
The meeting comes as discussion continues on the contested case involving 27 East Maui streams; and the recent release of water at Nā Wai ʻEha following a decade-long battle over water rights.
The commission is updating the statewide Water Resource Protection Plan and needs public input on what water resource issues are important to the community.
The meeting runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku.
Similar meetings are taking place across the state. The Lanai meeting was held yesterday, and the Molokai meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands/Office of Hawaiian Affairs Conference Room in Kaunakakai.
