MEO Celebrates 50 Years of Service

Maui Economic Opportunity recently celebrated the nonprofit community action agency’s 50th anniversary with a commemorative community and staff photo. MEO was chartered on March 22, 1965.
Guests included Lt. Gov. Shan Tsutsui, Rep. Judson Woodson, Joe Pontanilla (representing Mayor Alan Arakawa) and Councilmember Gladys Baisa.
MEO serves children and families, the medically needy, the elderly and other low-income individuals. All MEO programs are tangible translations of the Promise of Community Action.
MEO serves more than 23,000 people each year through a wide variety programs including transportation, social assistance, employment and training, business development, rental assistance, early childhood education and outreach to the Hispanic community.
