Art Maui is celebrating its 37th year of presenting the work of artists from Maui County. The annual juried exhibit is a community favorite presented by the Art Maui organization.
Always interesting and divers,e with artists of many skill levels, this popular show offers something for everyone with a range of contemporary explorations in printmaking, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, video and digital media.
For Art Maui 2015, 325 artists registered 511 works, and 110 works by 99 artists were selected.
The publicity image for 2015, selected from works in the 2014 exhibition by the Art Maui board of directors, is “Lighting the Way Home” by Sidney Yee.
“I have forever wanted to be selected for this honor, and now that it has happened, I feel grateful and extremely fortunate,” said Yee. “Maui artists who participate in Art Maui are many and increasingly talented. And so young.”
David Ulrich, an active photographer, writer and a core faculty member for Pacific New Media, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, served as this year’s juror.
