OluKai Hoʻolauleʻa Downwind Race 2015
The Seventh Annual OluKai Hoʻolauleʻa Downwind Race 2015, “a celebration of the ocean the cultures that surround it,” will take place Friday through Sunday, May 1 to 3, at Kanaha Beach Park.
For the seventh year, the Maui community and guests from around the world will congregate for an epic downwind SUP and OC1 racing event.
“This year, the OluKai Ho’olaule’a will be even more exciting and even more fun for the entire family,” said Maui trainer Suzie Cooney. “Along with the amazing two days of action-packed ocean racing, OluKai’s grand ocean celebration continues to expand and share the aloha. In addition to the fabulous traditional Hawaiian lūʻau, ancient Hawaiian games, free canoe rides and spectacular entertainment, we’ve added one more day of fun to the venue.”
The event kicks off with Demo Day on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon under the OluKai VIP tent. Participants will have the opportunity to meet the pros and learn some of their training tips and experience paddling Maliko.
Then, participants are invited to join Cooney in fun and informative, hands-on training session where she will demonstrate and talk about specific training tips to get paddlers prepared.
