Lānaʻi boy medevaced.

A 12-year-old boy from Lānaʻi was Medevaced to Maui after suffering injuries in an apparent bicycle accident on Monday afternoon, fire officials said.

The incident was reported at 3:43 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at the Cavendish Golf Course.

Fire officials say the boy was found unresponsive.

When Lānaʻi firefighters arrived on scene nine minutes later, paramedics and police were already on scene treating the boy, said Maui Fire Services Officer Edward Taomoto.

According to department reports, the boy was riding with friends when the accident occurred.

Authorities say the boy was found lying in a ditch, unresponsive but breathing.

It is unclear how the incident occurred.
