New Tropical Depression Develops in Eastern Pacific

As of the 8:00 p.m. National Hurricane Center tropical system advisory a new tropical depression has developed in the East Pacific. Tropical Depression 12-E has maximum sustained winds at 35 mph and is moving west near 3 mph. This general motion is expected to continue during the next couple of days.

Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm on Tuesday. Twelve-E is expected to pass over warm sea surface temperatures and be in an environment that is favorable for development.

The track has the system generally traveling in the direction of the Hawaiian Islands. Around day 4, increasing southwesterly shear is expected to begin to weaken the system.
