Festival to Raise Funds for Hope Lodge Hawai‘i

The American Cancer Society Hawai’i Pacific’s First Annual Hope Fest Maui will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, transforming the Maui Brewing Company in Kīhei into an eclectic, vibrant music and arts festival.
Co-chairs Aimee Singer and Tyson Miyake are planning an event that will entertain and inspire, while raising completion funds for Hope Lodge Hawai‘i.
“Cancer has affected many of us here on Maui, and I wanted to do my part to fight back against it,” said event Miyake. “Hope Lodge will support patients and their loved ones during treatment. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to work with this amazing committee, and together we are working hard to get Hope Lodge Hawai‘i completed.”
An estimated 6,730 Hawai‘i residents will be diagnosed with cancer in 2015. Approximately, 650 of these patients will travel from a Neighbor Island to one of Honolulu’s healthcare facilities to undergo treatment.
Once Hope Lodge Hawai‘i opens its doors, it will provide more than 6,935 nights of free lodging to more than 487 patients and their caregivers each year. The Hope Lodge will save cancer patients an estimated $1.3 million annually in lodging expenses.
Hope Fest’s inaugural event will bring together a rare combination of talents to celebrate healthy Maui lifestyles with music, dancing, games and activities for adults and the whole family. Hosted by Maui Brewing Company and presented by The Hawaiian Electric Companies (Hawaiian Electric, Maui Electric and Hawai‘i Electric Light), the day of activities will have something for everyone.
VIP Hope Fest guests will judge a Fork Cancer contest among five well-known chefs, including Habibi, Maui Fresh Streatery, Aria’s and more.
General admission guests will enjoy an entertainment line-up featuring local favorites and more: Soul Kitchen, Halau Hula o Keola Ali‘I o Ke Kai, Nestor Ugale Jr., The Easy, Rare Vibrations Band, Sweet Trinity, Kaliko’s Way, TFlatz and the Highlights, High Command, Steve Craig of The Lonely Heart Shakers, Damien Awai, Noa-Zeb, Johnny Ringo, and Louis and Lewis.
Hope Fest cancer survivors and caregivers will be honored and through all games and activities, guests will be contributing to build Hope Lodge Hawaii.
