Fire at HC&S Repair Shop Causes $2,000 Damage
An early morning fire at a Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar company repair shop in Puʻunēnē was brought under control and extinguished within a half an hour.
The incident was reported at 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015 near the company’s sugar mill.
Firefighters from Kahului arrived at 1:27 a.m. to find a small fire burning within a tractor repair building along the old Puʻunēnē Avenue.
Firefighters brought the fire under control at 1:34 a.m., and called it extinguished at 1:50 a.m.
Fire officials say the fire was reported by HC&S employees in another building nearby.
The fire burned wooden storage lockers within the repair shop and caused an estimated $1,000 in damages to structure and $1000 to its contents.
Fire officials say the cause of the fire was undetermined and no injuries were reported.
Fire crews from Kahului, Wailuku, and a battalion chief responded to the incident.
