Maui County Weekend Weather Uncertain

A High Surf Advisory is posted for windward Maui and Moloka’i through 6 a.m. Sunday. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for harbor surges expected in Kahului harbor. Large breaking waves could occur at harbor entrances. Mariners should use extreme caution when entering or leaving port and when mooring or launching vessels.
A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all Maui County waters through at least 6 p.m. Saturday. East winds up to 25 knots and seas up to 12 feet are expected. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Looking Ahead
Breezy and gusty trades will continue during the next several days. Increasing tropical moisture is expected from the south and a wetter weather pattern is forecast for the weekend. Best chances of rain will be for the eastern half of the island chain with slight chances of thunderstorms for the Big Island late Saturday and Sunday. The chance for heavier weather could be extended into Maui county as new model data becomes available.

Today we expect partly cloudy skies and scattered morning showers in windward and mauka spots. Mostly sunny skies are forecast for leeward spots in Maui County. High temperatures from 85° to 90°. Breezy northeast winds are expected from 15 to 25 mph.

Northeast winds are expected this evening around 15 mph. Low temperatures from 73° to 78°. Mostly cloudy skies are expected in the evening with scattered showers for windward areas and isolated showers in leeward areas.
