All residential refuse pickups on Molokaʻi were cancelled on Wednesday due to emergency repairs to the island’s primary rear loader truck, county officials said.

Officials with the Department of Environmental Management say the repairs were being conducted as a backup truck was also undergoing repair.

According to information released by the department, a replacement truck that had been previously budgeted and ordered is expected to arrive within the next month to provide for improved sustainable service to the island.

Crews expect to pickup trash on the missed service routes today and tomorrow.
