A Lahaina man succumbed to injuries sustained in an “eBike” crash in West Maui over the weekend.

Maui police have since identified the man as 43-year-old Guy Siegel Junker of Lahaina.

The incident was reported at around 2:18 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, on Kupuohi Street, just east of Ulupono Street in Lahaina.

Police say Junker was operating a black Sondors electric powered bicycle or “eBike,” and was traveling west on Kupuohi Street when he struck a curb as he veered across the roadway at the entrance of the Emerald Plaza parking lot.

According to police reports, the man then lost control of the eBike and was ejected onto the pavement as a result of the collision.

Police say the man was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical, life-threatening condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.
