The Lahainaluna girls are in a class — if not league — of their own in basketball. That was underscored yet again last night as the fourth-ranked Lunas romped to a 62-4 victory over Baldwin at the Lahaina Civic Center.

Reigning state player of the year Maiki Viela scored 13 of her 17 points in the first quarter as the defending state Division-I champion Lunas jumped out to a 22-0 lead and extended that advantage to 44-2 by halftime.

The Lunas’ boys defeated Liberty Christian 48-45 win behind TJ Rickard’s 23 points.
