Maui Playwright’s Rom-Com to Premier at Fringe Festival
Les Lapins Timides, a fast-paced rom-com (romantic comedy) by Maui teacher David Negaard, will premier this weekend, Jan. 22–24, 2016, during the Maui Fringe Festival at the Historic ʻ Īao Theater in Wailuku.
Directed by Negaard and co-produced with Virginia Sandell, Les Lapins Timides is about a first date in which everything that can go wrong does go wrong.
The cast includes both veteran and new Maui talent.
Rueben Carrion, Jamie Nicole Wilcox, Jim Oxborrow, Marsi Smith and Patty Sylva bring this clever, lighthearted look at 21st century dating vibrantly to life. From an awkward beginning, the hapless couple (Wilcox and Oxborrow) must overcome multiple obstacles and navigate past several hazards to have any hope of a happily-ever-after.
On Friday, Jan. 22, the play starts at 7:15 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 23, 3 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 24, 6 p.m.
All tickets $10.
