High Surf Warning Continues, Pe’ahi Swell

A High Surf Warning is in effect for the north and west shores of Molokai and the north shore of Maui through 6 p.m. Thursday.

A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all Maui County coastal waters and most channels through 6 p.m. Thursday for high seas.

North: Wave heights are 25 to 35 feet on the faces in the morning with a slow fading trend through the day. Most spots will be washed out.

West: Wrap from the west-northwest swell builds today especially for spots with northern exposure.

South: Wave heights are waist high or less today out of the south-southwest.

Screen Shot 2016-01-27 at 9.22.00 PMThe current warning level west-northwest swell is expected to slowly fade Thursday and Friday. Another northwest pulse is expected early next week.

There will also be a series of small, mainly background south swells through the week.

Easterly trade wind swells will remain rather low for the next several days.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
