RESTORED: 3,758 on Maui Lose Power, Tree Branch to Blame

Representatives with Maui Electric Company say an estimated 3,758 customers lost power this morning after a tree branch came into contact with lines on Malaihi Road in Waiehu.

The outage was first reported at 9:08 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016, and affected customers in parts of Wailuku town, Wailuku Heights, Waiehu and Kahakuloa.

Crews with Maui Electric cleared the lines and restored service to customers in Wailuku town and Wailuku Heights by 10:04 a.m. followed by Waiehu to Kahakuloa by 10:31 a.m., according to Maui Electric representatives.

FYI: POWER OUTAGE PARTS OF WAILUKU: 9:09 a.m., 3/28/16, We are getting initial reports of a power outage affecting parts of Wailuku, Waiehu and Kahakuloa. No word yet on the estimated time of when power will be restored. We’ll keep you posted.
