MEO Hires New Business Development Center Director

David Daly is the new director of the MEO Business Development Center. He replaces retiring MEO BDC Director Craig Swift.

Daly has over 25 years of experience working with small businesses on Maui, including business ownership, financing, education and economic development. His background includes residential lending and being a FINRA licensed financial advisor.

Daly was hired in March 2009 as an MEO BDC Loan Fund manager. His duties included teaching the Core Four Business Planning classes, underwriting and managing microloans, and providing support and technical assistance to entrepreneurs on Maui and Lāna‘i. He traveled to Lāna‘i weekly to conduct Core Four Business Planning classes, and provide support and technical assistance to the island’s small business entrepreneurs.

MEO BDC provides microloans for small start-up or business expansions ranging from $5,000 to $50,000. In addition to micro-lending, the program focuses on education and providing technical assistance to those interested in starting, expanding, or purchasing a business.

Assistance is offered through the Core Four Business Planning Course that is offered on Maui, Lana’i and Moloka‘i throughout the year. Classes are open to the general public.

Other technical assistance includes credit repair and technical assistance for applicants of the loan program, and seminars for Maui County Business Resource Center—”Credit Readiness,” “How to Obtain Business Loans” and “Starting a Business.”
