9 Day Maui Hemp Fest “on Tap”

Maui Hemp Institute for Research and Innovation hosts a nine-day Hemp Fest to promote the benefits of industrial hemp and celebrate the theme, “Grow Our Future.”

The celebration is being held in conjunction with the 7th Annual Hemp History Week which features more than 1,400 celebrations nationwide.

Starting on Saturday, June 4, Maui Hemp Institute will launch the event as part of the national grassroots education campaign taking place from June 6-12, 2016.

Organizers say this year’s event focuses on the myriad ways industrial hemp farming and hemp products can “lead us to healthier lifestyles, regenerative agriculture systems, and innovations in green technology.”

With the passing of recent hemp legislation in Hawaiʻi, organizers say the Maui Hemp Fest 2016 will be a celebration of hemp coming to Maui as a future agricultural crop and spark to the local economy.

Hemp History Week will feature a national retailer program with more than 1,000 participating stores, local events, restaurant participants, and hemp product sampling. The campaign will also support more than 300 grassroots organizers and feature a Take Action component, to encourage the Obama Administration and Congress to change federal policy and allow American farmers to once again grow industrial hemp.

The Maui Hemp Fest 2016 will kick off nine days of events at The Maui Brewing Company in Kīhei, featuring keynote speaker and hemp Author Doug Fine, as well as the release of Maui Brewing Company’s Hemp ESB Beer followed by a Hemp Movie Night and live music.  The launch event begins at 5 p.m. on June 4, at the Maui Brewing Company, 605 Līpoa Pkwy, Kīhei, HI 96753.
