Maui Pond Named to Travel Channel’s Top 10 Swimming Holes
The Travel Channel has named Waioka Pond in East Maui to a top 10 list of the Best Swimming Holes in the US.
The list is featured in the Travel Channel’s new series, “Top Secret Swimming Holes,” that will run on the network this summer.
Topping the list was Bingham Falls, Vermont; followed by Enders Falls Connecticut at #2; and Ginnie Springs Florida at #3. Others on the list include: (4) Little River Falls, Alabama; (5) McKinney Falls, Texas; (6) Opal Pool, Oregon; (7) Quarry Park, Minnesota; (8) Seven Teacups, California; (9) Slide Rock, Arizona; and (10) Waioka, Hawaiʻi.
The network describes Waioka as a “cliff jumper’s paradise.” It is often referred to by visitors as “Venus Pool.” While it was not mentioned in the announcement, access to the area, is actually on Hāna Ranch land.
While the list announcement highlighted the areas attributes, it did not mention its location along the rugged coastline and flash-flood conditions can make the destination unsafe, especially for those unfamiliar with the area. It is unknown if the dangers are mentioned in the actual network segment that will air.
“Top Secret Swimming Holes” is part of “Dive Into Summer,” Travel Channel’s summer programming lineup that begins Sunday, June 19 and showcases what network representatives call, “the world’s ultimate water paradises with a touch of fun, sun, thrills and adventure.”
