Maui Roadsters Makes Cover of Conde Nast Traveler
Maui Roadsters, a vintage car rental company based in Kīhei, is receiving worldwide attention on the cover of the 2016 June/July issue of Conde Nast’s Traveler magazine, currently available at newsstands.
The cover shot features “Hoku” (Hawaiian for “Star”), the company’s classic, silver 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster reproduction, driving Upcountry with the Pi‘ilani Highway stretched out before it “like a golden ribbon.”
The issue also listed Maui as one of Conde Nast’s 26 recommended summer destinations.
Recognized for its stunning photography, the world-renowned travel magazine’s summer issue also features a second shot of the Speedster on the Table of Contents (page 14).
Both the cover and inside photos were taken by freelance photographer Adrian Gaut.
Maui Roadsters is owned and operated by the husband-and-wife team of Larry Lutz and Christine Vestfals.
“We’re so thrilled and honored to have our Speedster featured so prominently the cover of Conde Nast Traveler, one of the most prestigious travel magazines in the world,” said the couple. “Maui has so many great driving routes, but when we have a day to ourselves, our favorite drive is Upcountry to Kēōkea and ‘Ulupalakua where the lush rolling hills, winding roads and the smell of eucalyptus trees transport us to another place. It feels like we’re a world away and the gorgeous views over Mākena and across the channel to Molokini, Kaho‘olawe and West Maui remind us how lucky we are to live on this incredible island.”
This is the second magazine cover for Maui Roadsters, which has had its ivory Speedster featured on the September 2014 cover of Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine. That photograph was shot by Maui’s own Tamiz Photography.
Maui Roadsters offers a fleet of professional reproductions of the 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster convertible, one of the most iconic cars in automotive history. The two-passenger, manual transmission Speedsters are available for 12-hour or six-hour rentals, by appointment.
