Maui Man Charged in Kea Street Murder, Victim Identified

Maui police have arrested and charged a man in connection with an early morning murder reported at a Kea Street home on Monday.
Police say Bronsen Rodrigues was charged with second degree murder shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday and was being held on a “no bail” status.
On Thursday, July 28, Maui police confirmed the identify of the victim, as 24-year old Melvin Santos of Kahului.
The charges stem from an incident earlier this week when police responded to a Kahului home for a report of a group of armed males threatening people at the residence.
Police were directed to a storage room where they found a man dead with an apparent gunshot wound.
The investigation is ongoing.
