Comments Sought on Kahului Wastewater Facility Project

A proposed shoreline erosion protection project at the Wailuku-Kahului Wastewater Reclamation Facility is the subject of an upcoming public meeting on Maui. The project seeks to protect the facility from ongoing shoreline erosion and rising sea levels.
The public meeting takes place Wednesday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Maui Waena Intermediate School Cafeteria.
At this meeting the County will present the various alternatives being considered for the mitigation of shoreline erosion at at the facility. Public comments and questions will be addressed following a presentation.
An Environmental Assessment and EIS Preparation Notice have also been filed with the State Department of Health. The deadline for comments on the document is February 21, 2011.
