Maui Chamber Orchestra Receives Grant
The Dietrich Foundation, Inc. of Philadelphia, Pa., has given a one-time donation award to the Maui Chamber Orchestra and an innovative challenge grant called the “Dietrich Challenge” to underwrite the orchestra’s operations.
The grant will help MCO build a sustainable donor base to ensure its future.
The foundation has offered a unique challenge: they will give $4 for every dollar raised in the first year, $3 for every dollar raised in the second year and $2 for every dollar raised in the third year. There is also a ceiling on each year’s matched donation.
“We are so grateful to the Foundation for its confidence in and support of the Maui Chamber Orchestra,” said Robert E. Willis, MCO artistic director and conductor. “I hope the Maui music loving community will join with the Foundation to demonstrate its support for our efforts.”
The MCO’s next concert is set for Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 23, at 5 p.m. at the Historic ʻĪao Theater.
The orchestra will do their annual Christmas concert on Dec. 17 and 18, featuring Bach’s Magnificat.
Their spring concert will be on May 20 and 21, and their 2016-2017 season will culminate with the Maui premiere of Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” at the Castle Theater at the MACC on Aug. 6, at 3 p.m.
Donors who wish to meet the Dietrich Challenge can mail a check to Maui Chamber Orchestra, Inc., 111 Poailani Pl., Wailea, HI 96753 indicating it is to be applied towards the Dietrich Challenge or can go to the MCO’s Website here.
