DBEDT director to share economic indicators in Hawaii

POSTPONED DUE TO HURRICANE MADELINE: The Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce’s business meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 5:30 p.m. at Tante’s Island Cuisine will be postponed to another date. Chamber officials announced they are finding a new date in September are notifying their membership and those registered/interested the event.

Director Luis P. Salaveria of the Hawaiʻi State Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism will share economic indicators as guest speaker for the Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce’s business meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 5:30 p.m. at Tante’s Island Cuisine.

The workshop titled “What’s Trending: Strategies for Business” will dive into DBEDT’s data on Hawaiʻi’s economy for 2017.

With anticipated unemployment because of the closure of the last sugar plantation, Salaveria will provide data-based analysis on what to expect for the Maui community.

The session is open to the public. Registration of $20 for chamber members and $25 for nonmembers is required. The event offers a networking opportunity for attendees and heavy pūpū is included.
