500 Participate in 12th Annual Lahaina Town Clean Up
More than 500 people participated in the 12th Annual Town Clean Up in Lahaina over the weekend, according to event organizers.
The event took place on Saturday, Sept. 24 along the streets, harbors and beaches of Lahaina Town from Puamana to the Māla Boat Ramp.
The cleanup was conducted under a collaboration between Mālama Maui Nui and Hui O Waʻa Kaulua, and included participation from local businesses, schools and clubs.
Lead by The Lahaina Yacht Club, the Lahaina Harbor Master, and many of our local boating companies, this year’s main focus was the Māla Ramp. The Lahaina Harbor Clean Up was lead by Trilogy Excursions through the Blue ʻĀina Clean Up. Preventive measures, such as drain stenciling and signage was also be a big part of the clean up.
All data collected was to be reported to the International Coastal Clean Up. Helping change global policy around the world, ICC is a worldwide effort of over 800,000 people volunteering around the world this month.
