Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Oct. 14, 2016 to MACC members only for the UB40 Reunited HANA HOU! concert scheduled for Friday, Jan. 20, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center A&B Amphitheater/Yokouchi Pavilion.

The MACC presents the return to Maui of iconic reggae band UB40 Reunited featuring the original founding members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue.

The group who defined reggae music for a generation, produced multiple Top 10 gold- and platinum-selling albums, four #1 hits worldwide, and multiple Grammy nominations. The band has sold more than 70 million units worldwide. UB40 is returning to Maui after a sold-out performance last January.

The band, formed in 1979 in Birmingham, England, pooled a diverse set of influences to put a fresh, indigenous slant on Jamaican reggae. After encouragement from Chrissie Hynde, who offered them support slots with her chart-topping band, the Pretenders, they recorded their independently released debut album, Signing Off, which became an unexpected #2 album and gave them the conviction to chart their own course.

The group’s top 10 hits include “Red Red Wine”, “(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love With You,” and “I Got You Babe.”  Audiences are once again able to experience the sound of this hugely successful original lineup of UB40.

They’ll also get to hear these UK reggae pioneers’ latest take on the reggae genre. Their newest album, Silhouette, is an inspired mix of freshly minted new songs and sparkling, ‘reggaefied’ cover versions of classics by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Chi-Lites, and others.
