Early Morning Fire Damages S. Maui Restaurant

Firefighters in South Maui responded to a structure fire at Three’s Bar & Grill in the Kihei Kalama Village complex at 1945 South Kīhei Road at 5:49 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016.

Kihei firefighters were on scene at 5:53 a.m. and found smoke coming from the front of the business.

Crews entered the restaurant and located a fire coming from the kitchen area.

The fire was brought under control at 6:04 a.m. and extinguished at 11:09 a.m.

The fire affected about 25% of the restaurant and caused an estimated $150,000 in damages to the building and $100,000 to its contents.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

There were no injuries and the fire did not impact other businesses nearby.

No one was at the business when the fire broke out.

An employee at an adjacent business smelled smoke and went outside to investigate. The worker called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the restaurant.
