First Maui Comic Con Scheduled in Lahaina

Maui Comi Con 2016The first-ever Maui Comic Con is coming up on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5 and 6, at Lahaina Cannery Mall from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

This free event is brought is brought to you by Maui Comics & Collectibles and the NERDWatch.

Bring the kids out for local artists and vendors, free face painting, Pokemon Go contests, cosplay competitions and live on-stage panels.

The event will also include live interviews with featured guest Steve Leialoha, known for his legendary Bronze Age work with Marvel and the Eisner award-winning series, Fables; the Hawaiian Comic Book Alliance (a league of local comic creators); Local Director Brian Kohne (Get a Job and Kuleana); Disney’s Darkwing Duck 25th anniversary panel with the creative team and more.

Vendors will include Enjoy Comics, Maui Tattoo Parlor, Miyako Sushi, Maui Comics & Collectibles and more.

Maui Comi Con 2016 is sponsored by Q103, Bubba Gump Restaurant, Lahaina Sunglass, Lulu’s Lahaina, Akakū Community Media, Night Darling Cosplay, Geek Design Firm, Chilltown Sound, Made with Aloha baked goods and Wailuku Coffee Company.

Enter to Saturday’s cosplay contest is free.

Registration forms and rules can be found online.

Applications can be submitted before the convention at Maui Comics and Collectibles or on the day of the contest at the convention.
