The collaborators who are currently finishing their “We Live for Love” tour, lived full time at the oceanfront property with their two daughters for about five years until about 2009, said Mr. Giraldo. The home is located on the eastern end of Maui outside the sleepy village of Hāna, where the couple was married in 1982.

Mr. Giraldo and his wife, whose real name is Patricia Giraldo, purchased the property for $550,000 in 2000, according to public records, and in 2002 started building their roughly 3,000-square-foot, plantation-style house. The main house has two bedrooms, and a recording studio over the garage doubles as a guest bedroom.

In 2005 they paid $400,000 for the vacant parcel next door, which they use to host barbecues, play bocce and hit golf balls.

Mr. Giraldo said the family eats dinner on the lanai nearly every night when in residence. “We have a beautiful table on the inside, too, but we never sit there,” he said. Photo Courtesy: Dante Parducci

The house has a wide covered lanai facing the ocean. On the second floor a cupola, which they use for watching movies, opens up to decks facing the ocean and mountains behind the property. The master bathroom has a private lava rock outdoor shower with two shower heads.

Mr. Giraldo said the couple’s hectic touring schedule caused them to relocate to California. “Living on an island made it difficult,” he said. At first they frequently returned to Hāna, but they’re now spending much of their time in New York City, which makes Hawai‘i trips harder. Once the house is sold, he said, “we’ll probably get a brownstone or something in New York.”

A pioneering early female rocker, Ms. Benatar shot to fame in the 1980s with hits like “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” many of which she crafted with bandmate Mr. Giraldo.
