Jiro Koja, 93, of Kahului, passed away on Dec. 14, 2016 at Islands Hospice in Kahului. He was born on Jan. 9, 1923 in Pāʻia, Maui.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at Wailuku Hongwanji Mission, service at 5 p.m.
Jiro was an independent taxi driver.
He is survived by his son, Randall (Aselda) Koja; and two grandchildren, Liane and Justin Koja.
Helen Ross
November 28, 1925 – December 12, 2016
Helen Olivia Ross, 91, of Kailua Kona, Hawaiʻi, was born in Kent, Washington on Nov. 28, 1925, and passed away at home on Dec. 12, 2016. Helen worked as a Registered Nurse at Kona Hospital.
She is survived by spouse John (Capt. Jack) Ross; daughters Janet (Keith) Klippstein of Portland, Oregon; Nancy (Eddie) Sakamoto of Holualoa; Leanne (Tyson) Wood of Medford, Oregon; Betsy Roslyn of Portland, Oregon; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services to be held at a later date.
Mildred Dolores Cabral
March 2, 1927 – December 11, 2016
Mildred Dolores Cabral, 89 of Kahului, passed away on Dec. 11, 2016 with Hospice Maui and surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 2, 1927 in Wailuku.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at St. Anthony Church in Wailuku, mass will begin at 11 a.m.; and burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery. Mildred retired from Maui Pineapple Cannery where she worked as a trimmer.
She is survived by her sons, Ernest Alan (Joanne) Cabral, Kerstan (Hope) Cabral; daughter, Karen Cabral; brother, Alvin Leval; and two grandchildren, Jonathan and Ryan Cabral.
The family would like to acknowledge Hospice Maui for their compassionate care of Mildred.
Harry Henry Perreira
July 20, 1927 – December 8, 2016
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Makawao on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao at 1 p.m.
Harry was employed at the Takitani Dairy & Winery in Kaupakalua before being drafted into the Army Corp of Combat Engineers. Afterwards he worked for Maui Land & Pine before becoming a self employed carpenter. He is best known for being a private pineapple farmer for 28 years and running a heavy equipment operation for 10 years before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha; sons, Nathan (Rosemary), Damien, Timothy, Domanic “Dino”; brothers, Clarence, Benjamin, Howard, Melvin, Gerald; sister, Mildred N. Jones-Perreira and numerous nieces and nephews. Harry is predeceased by a son, Victor.Harry had a big heart and he loved helping his family.
He touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime. He will be greatly missed.
Beatrice DePonte
November 11, 1926 – December 8, 2016
Beatrice DePonte, 90, of Kula, Maui, passed away on Dec. 8, 2016, at her home, under the care of Hospice Maui. She was born on Sept. 11, 1926, in Haʻikū, Maui.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Norman’s Mortuary; service will begin at 10:30 a.m.; burial will follow, 1 p.m., at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao.
Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Albert DePonte, Sr. She is survived by her children, Albert (Laurel) DePonte, Jr., Gerry (Gary) Lee, Earl DePonte; sister, Joyce Rivera; brother, Joseph Santos; grandchildren, Stacey, David (Terzah), Justin (Stephanie), Wayne, Johnathan (Aimee), Tammie (James), Donielle, Candace; and great grandchildren, Ashley, Ciera, Kiersha, Jada, Kaya, Shiloh, Kahele, Daffnie, Brandon, Bailey and Braxton.
Gabriel Sentesy

Gabriel Joseph Sentesy, 84, of Waikoloa, Hawaiʻi, was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 8, 1932, and passed away on Dec. 5, 2016. Gabriel served his Country in the Army and worked as a Plant Manager at a water treatment plant.
He is survived by hānai son Renato (Maura) Simbulan of Waikoloa, Hawaiʻi; and cousin Nicholas (Linda) Kamp of Templeton, California.
Friends are welcome for 9 a.m. visitation and 10 a.m. Military Honors and Mass on Dec. 21, 2016 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Kamuela, Hawaiʻi.
Michelle Anderson
December 14, 1969 – December 3, 2016
Michelle Anderson, 46, of Kailua Kona, Hawaiʻi, was born in Cape Canaveral, Florida on Dec. 14, 1969, and passed away on Dec.3, 2016.
Michelle worked in timeshare and activity sales. She was a member of Living Stones Church, where she was the founder of the “Joyful Hands” charity knitting group.
She is survived by spouse Milan Machacek; son Luis (Joshua) Pagani Jr. of Kailua Kona, Hawaiʻi; mother Jung Hi Anderson of Satellite, Beach Florida; brother Todd Anderson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and sister Wendy Anderson-Silvagni of Ft. Lauderdale.

Janice “Honey Girl” Mapuana Uwekoolani, 61, of Pukalani, passed away on Dec. 2, 2016, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on Jan. 31, 1955 on the Island of Maui.
A luncheon to celebrate her life will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 at Dani’s Restaurant in Wailuku.
Honey Girl is survived by her mother, Violet Uwekoolani; Son – Anthony (Delena) Martins Jr.; Daughter – Renee (Andrew) Friend; Brother – Sanford Uwekoolani Sr.: Sisters – Bobbie Jean Lovato and Mona Uwekoolani; and 4 Grandchildren – Dante Friend, Dylan Martins, Landon Friend, and Akela Martins.

Aldeleno “Dino” Torres

Aldeleno “Dino” Torres, 80, of Kahului, passed away on Nov. 24, 2016 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 18, 1936 in Wailuku.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec.28, 2016 at Ballard Family Mortuary, Kahului, service will begin at 11 a.m.
Aldeleno was the owner of Al Torres Plumbing. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Fausta “Chris” Torres; daughter, Theresa “Terri Lou” (Jesse) Correa; son, Dean “Dino” Alan Torres (Diana); brother, Abraham Torres; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
