24th Annual He-Man Competition at Slim’s Power Tools, April 29

The 24th annual He-Man competition will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Slim’s Power Tools in Kahului.

Modeled after lumberjack competitions, 33 male and female contestants will compete to demonstrate the accuracy, convenience and speed that power tools provide. During preliminary rounds each contestant will use hand tools in a series of four events with the fastest four competitors moving on to the final round.

The events include:

Dewalt’s “Hammer da Nail” where contestants have to hand nail (10) 3″ nails into a 2X4.
Milwaukee’s “Cut da Wood” where contestants have to hand saw through a 4X4
Bosch’s “Drill da Bit” where contestants have hand drill through a 4X6 using a 5/8″ brace drill
Hitachi’s “Unscrew da Screw” where contestants have to unscrew (2) 2″ Drywall Screws from a 4X4

“It’s not always the biggest person that wins,” said Rand Okemura, President of Slim’s Power Tools and coordinator of the He-Man Competition. “The competition tests speed, skill and accuracy and it showcases the convenience of using power tools.”

The public is invited to watch the free battle of skill competition at the Kahului store beginning at 10:30 a.m. The final round is expected to take place at 1:30 p.m.

In the final round, the grand prize winner will receive a $2,000 Slim’s Power Tools shopping spree and all contestants will receive a He-Man Competitors t-shirt.

The store will also have a clearance sale on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. and every power tool will be on sale.

Slim’s Power Tools is located at 142 Kalepa St. in Kahului
