Shed Destroyed in Ha‘ikū Fire, $10,000 in Damages

A shed was destroyed in a structure fire reported on Thursday morning in Haʻikū, Maui.

The incident was reported at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017, on Awalau Road.

Makawao firefighters arrived at 11:13 a.m. and found a 10 x 12 foot storage shed completely engulfed in flames. Crews had the fire under control by 11:26 a.m. and called the fire extinguished at 11:53 a.m.

A passing motorist reported the fire on a vacant lot with no other structures on it.

The cause of the fire was undetermined and damage to the shed was estimated at $10,000.
