The council’s Planning Committee meets this afternoon to discuss a draft bill that seeks to define short term rental homes, and establish procedures to permit use in certain areas.

Planning Committee Chair Don Couch said the body may consider amendments to the draft bill, but cannot recommend council action without a preliminary review by the planning commissions first.

As drafted, a “short-term” rental home shall mean a use in which overnight accommodations are provided to guests for compensation, for periods of less than 180 days, in no more than 2 detached single-family dwelling units, excluding bed and breakfast homes.
