At 3:34 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2017, Wailuku firefighters responded to a small brush fire near Piʻihana Road in Wailuku.

Firefighters were on scene at 3:46 a.m. and found a 50 x 100 foot area of brush burning in a vacant lot between Piʻihana Rd. and the Wailuku River. The fire was in the area to the north of The Millyard Business Park on Imi Kala St.

Crews had the fire extinguished by 4 a.m. with a total of a quarter-acre burned. No structures were threatened.

The cause of the fire remained undetermined and is considered suspicious, since in the last month there has been four other fires in the general vicinity, also with undetermined causes.
