Maui Nui Botanical Gardens says kukui has many intriguing uses; from leis and natural dyes being made to kukui nut oil being burned as fuel for torches.

Cultural practitioner Ko‘i Lum will lead the Hō‘ā i ka Lamakū at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. Participants will learn to make ‘inamona (a Hawaiian relish) and lamalama (a torch) from parts of the kukui tree.
