Power Restored: 7,200 Lose Power from Makawao to Hāna After Tree Trimming Incident

Around 10:45 a.m. today, about 7,200 customers from Makawao to Hana experienced a power outage when tree trimmers dropped part of a tree frond on power lines along Makawao Avenue. Power was restored to all customers by 11:20 a.m.

Update: (11:32 a.m. 8.7.17)

Power has since been restored to all affected customers.

Power was knocked out to electric customers in areas from Makawao to Hāna following a tree trimming incident on Monday morning, Aug. 7. 2017.

Representatives with Maui Electric say a tree dropped on power lines along Makawao Avenue.

Maui Electric is working to safely restore electrical service as quickly as possible and has responders en route.

A power outage notification was issued shortly before 11:15 a.m.
