VIDEO: Maui Surfrider to Celebrate Ocean Heroes Saturday

During the Second Annual Surfrider Foundation Ocean Guardians Pa’ina, the Maui chapter of this international volunteer organization will shine a light a light on Maui’s coastal protectors on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, from 5 to 9 p.m.

This fundraiser and “friend-raiser” is open to all on Maui who cherish the coastline.

Over 120 people are already set to attend, and remaining tickets are selling fast.

This event is being made possible by the generous sponsorship of title sponsor Maui Now, and supporting sponsors All Good Sunscreen, Castaway Construction, Honolulu Builders, Minit Medical, Maui Printing, MauiTime, Pono Pies and the Severson Ohana.

The $99 entry fee includes heavy pūpū, two drinks, live music by Kanekoa and an awards program emceed by Malika Dudley.

A silent auction will include over 30 items, many, donations from the world of Maui water sports.

Honorees for the event will be patriarch of the sport and artistic legend John Severson (posthumous), waterman Kai Lenny, mentor Victor Lopez, environmentalist Les Potts and ocean friendly business Flatbread Pizza.

Proceeds from the event will go to legal advocacy, preserving Pe‘ahi, caring for Honolua, equipment for intensive beach cleanups, scientific equipment to test soil and water quality, and more.

Maui’s ocean-loving community is world-class, and these honorees have brought respect, integrity, charity and care to the sport and the coastlines that they love.
