Iron Chef Winner Offers Free Talk at Whole Foods Maui
By Katie McMillan
Chef Douglas McNish is your quintessential food aficionado, spending most of his life in the kitchen. Unfortunately, at an early age, he lacked an understanding of the impact poor dietary choices would have on his body. By the time he was an adult, he had ballooned to over 270 pounds. Rather than succumb to this unnecessary outcome, Chef McNish decided to change his lifestyle and transform himself and others through healthy, gourmet, and cruelty free cooking.
On Thursday, March 17th at 7pm at Whole Foods Market in Kahului, Chef Douglas McNish will present a free special presentation titled, “A Professional Chef’s Journey to Raw Success.” Chef McNish will share his journey in the world of haute cuisine and his new found success as the Executive Chef of one of Toronto’s most popular raw food restaurants, Raw Aura.
After working for Toronto’s best chefs in some of the most challenging atmospheres, Chef McNish made a name for himself bringing organic vegan cuisine to a whole new level. Specializing in both cooked and raw foods, he won “Iron Chef” title twice in vegan cooking competitions, cooked on TV and for celebrities and teaches classes regularly.
The talk is sponsored by the Vegetarian Society of Hawai‘i.
