How many times have you left the house only to realize when you arrived at your destination that you forgot something?

Don’t make the same mistake as you pack for a vacation on the island paradise of Maui.

Chances are you could probably go out and purchase whatever item you left behind at a Maui store. But who wants to interrupt a vacation to go “panic shopping” and pay island prices for an item that probably costs a fraction of the price back home?

Maverick Helicopters offers the “Ultimate Maui Packing List,” for visitors. As a premier helicopter tour company in Hawaii, providing breathtaking, close-up tours of Maui in our renowned “limousines in the sky”, we’ve seen our fair share of visitors who have tried to keep their cool as they realize they forgot to pack an item they needed to fully enjoy their vacation.

You might be thinking to yourself, “That would never happen to me; I’m too organized!” But think again. In the excitement of packing for an exotic vacation—imagining all you will do and see and the memories you will create—it’s actually quite easy to forget to pack an important travel item.

Just ask the folks at Statista, a portal that tracks statistics from 18,000 sources. When they asked a group of travelers, “What item are you most likely to forget when packing for a vacation?,” they found most people forget to pack a rather obvious travel item:

Staying healthy: aloe vera, to ease the effects of the hot Maui sun; ibuprofen, to relieve pain from a sunburn or headache or to help your feet and legs recover from a strenuous hike; and loperamide, to counteract digestive issues in case you overindulge at a luau.
Beach essentials: sunscreen with an SPF rating of at least 30; polarized sunglasses (which provide the best protection from Maui’s intense sun); and swim goggles (to enjoy the best underwater vision possible for spotting Maui’s thriving ocean life).
Clothing: flexible but sturdy hiking sandals and closed-toe sandals are best, especially for hiking, horseback riding and ATV touring; resort wear, because while the daytime Maui dress code is casual, men may wish to wear khakis and a collared shirt and women may wish to wear a dress for dinnertime and beyond.
With our invaluable list at your side, you can fully enjoy – without the distraction of a “panic shopping” trip – all that Maui has to offer. Onboard a Maverick helicopter, you’ll understand why Maui is regularly voted the “best island in the world” by readers.
