Emergency Preparedness Webinar Orientation Offered April 18
By Robin G. Pilus
Hawaii Feeling Safe, Being Safe (FSBS) emergency preparedness training and webcast is available through a live webinar on Monday, April 18 at 3:45 pm. The emphasis of the training is on keeping our community’s citizens safe during an emergency.
The training is being offered through the Center on Disability Studies Emergency Preparedness Special Initiative in conjunction with the upcoming International Pacific Rim Conference.
The goal of the Feeling Safe Being Safe program is to create effective emergency planning and preparedness tools that increase personal safety and community connections. The program was developed by the Developmental Disabilities Studies Consumer Advisory Committee of California and has received cultural adaptations by community consumers of Hawaii.
FSBS materials and webcast are tools to help people with intellectual/developmental disabilities become better prepared in an emergency.
Individuals with disabilities were actively engaged in the creation and disseminaton of the FSBS program assuring wide and successful usability of the information and the general plan. It incorporates and easy to use strategy of “think – plan – do.”
The webinar orientation on April 18 is an introduction into FSBS training and an upcoming webcast. Johnelle Santos (Certified Host Trainer from Easter Seals Hawaii) and Timothy Renken (Certified Host Trainer from Goodwill Industries Hawaii) will conduct the webinar, with a special introduction from Marcie Roth (Director of the Office of Integration and Coordination, FEMA.)
Space is limited to 100 particpants. To be included in the webinar, please email [email protected].
