Maui Police Foundation Launched
The newly formed Maui Police Foundation hopes to offer funding and support for time sensitive projects and programs that otherwise would prove to be challenging due to budget shortfalls.
The Foundation is an independent organization, governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors comprised of business and philanthropic leaders. It is dedicated to enhance public safety and to develop stronger relationships between the community and the Maui Police Department.
Through its fundraising efforts, the Foundation’s mission is to supplement needed projects and programs for officer equipment and training, as well as youth outreach programs.
According to the Foundation, future projects may include, but would not be limited to: community youth outreach programs, officer safety or specialized equipment, specialized officer training, innovations in policing and new technology, recognition of outstanding service the Maui Police Department provides to the community and other strategic initiatives.
“I am thrilled and thankful to these volunteers who are willing to help us find solutions to the problems facing the community,” said Maui Police Chief Tivoli Faaumu.
“Through donations received, the Foundation will make it possible for every officer to have the equipment that he or she needs to fight crime and strengthen relationships through youth programs organized by the MPD,” said recently elected Board President Paulette Ramsay Wood.
Donations by check are being accepted via mail at: Maui Police Foundation, PO Box 2085, Wailuku, HI 96793. Credit card donations will be accepted via the foundation website.
