2018 General Election Voter Registration Deadline, Oct. 9

The Elections Division of the Office of the County Clerk is reminding the public that the last day to register to vote for the 2018 General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.

To be eligible to vote, you must be a US citizen, a resident of Hawai‘i, and at least 18 years old. Individuals who are 16 years of age can pre-register, but are not eligible to vote until age 18.

There are two ways to register to vote:

1. Voter registration forms are available online and at: US Post Offices; Public Libraries, Yellow Pages, and most state agencies.
2. Individuals possessing a Hawai‘i Driver’s License or Hawai‘i State Identification Card can register online.

Completed voter registration forms must be received by the Elections Division by 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2018. If mailed, voter registration forms must be postmarked on or before Oct. 9, 2018. Online voter registration transactions must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2018.

The Elections Division is also offering drive-thru voter registration services between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9, 2018 in the parking area immediately behind the Historic County Annex Building. Signs will be posted on Umi Street and Eiwa Street to direct individuals to the designated service area.

Finally, the Elections Division is notifying the public that it has received reports from two states (not Hawai‘i) that their residents are receiving phone calls from individuals impersonating an organization that provides voter registration assistance. Callers are asking recipients if they want to register to vote or request an absentee ballot over the phone.

The public is advised that the voter registration and the absentee ballot application process cannot only be completed over the phone so anyone receiving this type of call should hang-up immediately and report the incident to the Elections Division.
