Maui Gas Prices Up 59 Cents Since Last Year

Hawaiʻi gas prices increased for the third consecutive week with Kahului’s average price at $4.12; four cents higher than last Thursday, five cents higher than on this date last month and 59 cents higher than on this date a year ago.

Wailuku’s average is $4.12, which is three cents higher since last Thursday, five cents higher than on this date a month ago and 58 cents higher than on this date a year ago.

On Kauaʻi, Līhuʻe’s average price for regular is $4.02, which is four cents higher than last Thursday, six cents higher on this date last month and 66 cents more than a year ago.

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.68, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, five cents higher than on this date a month ago and 74 cents higher than on this date last year.

The Hilo average price is $3.90, which is four cents higher than last Thursday, seven cents more than on this date last month and 77 cents higher than on this date a year ago.

Today’s statewide average price is $3.82 a gallon, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, five cents higher than a month ago and 71 cents more than a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.

“Last week’s Energy Information Administration weekly petroleum status report stated that in the western United States, motor gasoline stocks fell by a sizable one million barrels to 27.9 million barrels,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.  “Stocks are 800,000 barrels lower than where they were at this time last year, which could lead to price volatility if there are any supply shocks in the region this week.”
