NWS Reissues High Surf Advisory for Maui County

The National Weather Service at 3:43 p.m. on Oct. 11, 2018, has reissued the High Surf Advisory for the south-facing shores of Maui County until 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12.

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

SURF: 7 to 10 feet tonight, lowering to 6 to 8 feet Friday along south facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands.

TIMING: Through the day Friday, then lowering this weekend.

IMPACTS: Moderate; expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong currents making swimming dangerous.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Heed all advice from ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

Maui County Emergency Management Agency will continue to monitor the situation.
