Bowls for Keiki Event to Raise Funds for Cancer Program

Nalu’s South Shore Grill, Street Bikers United Hawaii Organization, Kimokeo Foundation and Maui Organization of Ceramic Artists will come together to marry flavor and creativity at Bowls for Keiki on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Nalu’s.

“While these three organizations may be different, one thing they have in common is a commitment and involvement in local charitable events and community service projects, especially when it comes to Maui’s Keiki,” Street Bikers United Hawaii Maui Chapter President Ron Panzo stated.

The Pacific Cancer Foundation and these organizations share a vision and passion to support children with cancer in Maui County. Bowls for Keiki is a fundraiser for PCF and the launch of the Keiki Cancer Program.

Cancer is a devastating impartial disease that is not bound by demographics and is not discouraged by age. When children are diagnosed with cancer, it often creates additional hardships and challenges. These families may be separated by distance, due to the lack of appropriate tests and treatment options available on island, forcing them to travel elsewhere.

“PCF is pleased to partner together with these organizations to kick-off the Keiki Cancer Program, with Bowls for Keiki,” said PCF Executive Director Nancy La Joy. “This fund will help provide free support services to children and their families during treatment and beyond.”

Sookie Kunst, community service organizer, encouraged MOCA artists to participate in Bowls for Keiki. Artists have been getting their hands dirty by sculpting one-of-a-kind ceramic bowls to highlight the event.

The bowls will be showcased and ticket holders will have the opportunity to select a bowl of their choosing for dinner. Nalu’s South Shore Grill will be using these bowls to serve a signature salmon dinner, courtesy of Blue Circle Foods, Kvaroy, Norway.

The evening provides the perfect opportunity for Maui residents to get out and enjoy dinner, served and presented in a keepsake handcrafted ceramic bowl, listen to live entertainment and taiko drumming, with all proceeds going to benefit PCF Keiki Cancer Program.
